Cobalt Power Systems Inc has been named Best Solar Company in The Mercury News' 2025 Readers' Choice Awards Best of the Peninsula recognition. We're honored to receive this award and grateful to every reader who voted.
This award comes from the Peninsula communities we serve, which is why this recognition carries more weight than any industry credential alone. We don't cold call, and we don't send anyone to your door. Every customer we've worked with found us through a referral or their own research. When the people who live and work across the Peninsula choose us, that's confirmation the approach is working.
Since Mark Byington founded the company in his Los Altos garage in 2003, we've grown into a 4,000-plus installation operation out of our Mountain View facility. We hold a California contractor license, carry a Tesla Premier Certified Installer designation, and serve as a Preferred Partner, which gives our customers access to a 40-year panel warranty available only through authorized partners. We were the first SunPower Elite Dealer in the nation and were named SunPower Dealer of the Year.
We install residential and commercial solar, Tesla Powerwall battery backup systems, EV charging stations, and electrical service upgrades across the Bay Area. We also take on the work other installers decline, including wood shake shingle roofs, unusual roof configurations, and high-complexity electrical systems. Our system designers stay with each customer from the free proposal through engineering, permitting, installation, and the final monitoring walkthrough. Customers in reviews name them by first name, which tells you something about how those relationships work.
This recognition belongs to the team: the designers, installers, and engineers who've shown up for homeowners and businesses for over two decades. Thank you to the Peninsula News and to everyone who voted.
If you're researching solar for your home or business in the Bay Area, we'd be glad to start with a free proposal. Call (650) 817-7791 or reach out online to get started.
