About Cobalt Power Systems Inc. in the San Francisco Bay Area
Solutions from Our Bay Area Solar Company
Cobalt Power Systems, Inc. has been installing complete residential and commercial photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage systems since 2003 and has grown organically over 17 years of operation. The company was founded by Mark Byington in the garage of his Los Altos home.
We initially focused on residential solar but expanded into the commercial solar market successfully several years ago. Cobalt is a SunPower Commercial Dealer and a few years ago, became the first SunPower Elite Dealer™ in the nation, and was named SunPower Dealer of the Year in 2011. Cobalt is also a Certified Tesla Powerwall Installer. We see the integration of energy storage as the next component of the company’s growth.

Committed to Our Customers’ Needs
We have completed more than 2,600 commercial and residential solar PV installations throughout the Silicon Valley and the Bay Area. Our reputation in the solar industry is one of high-quality installations and great customer support. We base our business on customer referrals and go the extra mile for our clients. You will never get a phone solicitation from Cobalt or have someone from Cobalt at your door— we are different than most solar companies in that regard.
Our San Francisco Bay Area solar team prides itself in its creativity and ability to do work that other solar companies would not even consider, including complex grid-tied PV systems, energy storage, electrical service upgrades, and electric vehicle chargers.
Cobalt’s PV systems feature the best materials available, including SunPower, Enphase microinverters and SolarEdge hybrid inverters, as well as top-quality solar mounting systems and monitoring apps.
We operate from a 10,000-square-foot office and warehouse in Mountain View and have 14 highly trained installation teams, a fleet of 27 trucks, in-house engineering and an in-house CAD department, as well as sales and support teams and utility interconnection with PG&E, City of Palo Alto Utilities, and Silicon Valley Power.
Cobalt is dedicated to educating people about the benefits of renewable energy and that is why we sponsor community events, volunteer with various climate-action programs and participate in renewable energy fairs and events. This isn’t just a job for us — our San Francisco Bay Area solar contractors are passionate about solar and about making a difference, and more importantly, providing customers the type of service one could hope for and expect from the best solar provider.
